CALIBRATION is a project by The Weaving Mill in collaboration with textile designer Annie Irwin. Designed between Chicago and Los Angeles over the course of two years (via phone call, text-messaged weave drafts, sketches and notes), this collection of nine multi-purpose fabrics utilizes color and construction to address the topic of CALIBRATION, the process of adjusting and aligning visual and material systems to arrive at a known standard measurement. Working with graphic and color inspiration from printing and color calibration systems, the fabrics are woven on a warp stripe featuring ‘shades’ of true CMYK: cyan, magenta, and yellow to which a percentage of black has been added. The fabrics are designed to work in a multitude of contexts, on their own, or in clever groupings.
