For the past several years TWM, the Passementerie Mill and 1733 have been working individually and together to shape Chicago’s textile and softgoods production landscape. The Binding Bag is a product we developed together to highlight each shop’s unique capabilities. This handbag uses exterior seams bound with a 1” binding woven at the Passementerie Mill to create shape and structure as well as the handles and a detachable shoulder strap. Striped cotton fabric from The Weaving Mill lines up across the panels and make each piece unique. Toggle closure (made with a repurposed wooden tassel form) adds security and an interior pocket provides organization.
