The Weaving Mill celebrated its 7th birthday in the summer of 2022. To celebrate said birthday, we wove a collection of commemorative blankets using yarns inherited from the Chicago Weaving Corporation, the now-shuttered weaving concern out of which TWM emerged. Featuring several pattern riffs on the theme of Seven, these blankets play with directional twills, bifurcated planes, borders and boundaries.

We’ve named these two companion blankets Masts & Planks, in reference to the ways in which TWM feels at times less a business than a boat. A ship built by many hands: stewarded, repaired and reworked, traveling from port to port with goods in tow. Afterall, what is a selvedge but a gunwale?
